Overview

AeroFon Corporation is a development stage corporation formed on March 13, 2000.

AeroFon has developed a disruptive approach to wireless telecommunications service. Our research of customer interest shows strong interest in the AeroFon solution, the Aero Communications System (ACS). AeroFon customers who typically are large international wireless providers, e.g., Verizon, SBC, Telefónica and AT&T, do not have affordable systems to serve target markets and many are looking for solutions to meet their “universal service” obligations.

Mission Statement

AeroFon’s mission is to provide wireless telecommunications, affordable to a very large, un-served subscriber base in areas with little prospect for ground based service and at costs well below satellite systems.

Markets
Much of the world’s high-income areas have near complete cellular coverage. However, most of the world’s population is without wireless service or even the most basic plain old telephone service (POTS). The map at left shows Cellular Coverage and Population Density — Worldwide location of cellular coverage (top) and population density (bottom). This shows a huge opportunity for providers that can deliver affordable telecommunications to these populations. At least half the world’s population has never made a telephone call. In Asia, home to over half the world's population, only 18 percent of households have access to a phone. Similar statistics are found in Latin America. In many target markets, only one in ten households that could afford AeroFon service has a telephone.

The Universal Service myth

Current carriers typically have “universal service” obligations—a telephone within a two hour walk—they cannot fulfill economically because conventional systems are not profitable at rates within the covered population’s ability to pay.

Un-served Markets

Telephony responds to a basic human urge to communicate but more than half of humanity has never made a telephone call. High-income economies have near complete cellular coverage. Except for urban areas, low and middle-income countries are without wireless service and telephone access. AeroFon will not meet needs of all un-served markets but can enable delivery of affordable wireless service to most of those who today have no telephone access, at least a third of the world’s population.
